OuStory
Northwest Washington is a mecca for growing flowers. The climate is well-suited to growing dahlias in particular, and we are "neighbors" to some very well-known flower farms. Our love affair with growing flowers began just a few years ago. We started with just two dahlias from a local garden center to use in our landscape. We knew nothing about growing them and almost immediately lost one from overwatering. The one that survived, however, was breathtakingly beautiful, and our addiction was born!
The following year we decided to turn a corner of our property into a dahlia garden. We grew 75 unique cultivars that year and expanded to 400 the following year. We now grow over 500 different cultivars.
In addition to dahlias, we have begun growing peonies and sweet peas and plan to further expand our growing area to allow for filler flowers. we will offer for resale some annuals and perennials in the spring and summer of 2025. we grow dozens of fruit trees (mostly apple and cherry), blackberries, blueberries, and tayberries. (if you haven't had a chance to taste a tayberry, do it! they are amazing.)
you will see pictures of Our eleven chickens (Lola, Jelly, Sweetie, Lucy, DeeDee, Babs, Choco-lottie, TC, Taquito, Tamale, and Enchi) as placeholders in our shop. these girls are always entertaining and they keep don busy.
Growing flowers is a labor of love for us, but we do this in addition to our full-time jobs. It's taken us longer to launch our little flower farm into a small business than it might have otherwise, and we couldn't do it without a lot of help from our daughter Amanda and our sister Julie. We look forward to providing you with beautiful flowers for years to come and hope that they make your hearts sing as much as they do ours. ❤️
